The current Chief Minister of Nagaland is Neiphiu Rio, who is the leader of the National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP). The NDPP is in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The current Governor of Nagaland is La. Ganesan. The Nagaland Legislative Assembly is unicameral, with 60 members. The members are elected by direct popular vote to serve a term of five years. The current Speaker of the Legislative Assembly is Sharingain Longkümer. The judiciary of Nagaland is headed by the Gauhati High Court, which has a bench in Kohima. The High Court is headed by the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court, who is currently Sandeep Mehta.
